Vita

Katja Ladentin has been working as a freelance artist since the 2022/2023 season and has celebrated great success as Mrs. Lovett and the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd at Staatstheater Mainz.

While she was still engaged in the opera chorus until the end of 2022, she already sang roles such as the 1st Maid, the Page of Herodias, Flosshilde, Zita, Xenia’s Nurse, Marta/Pantalis and Bianca in “Rape of Lucretia”, Mother Goose in “Rake’s Progress” and many others. She has also appeared as a soloist in symphony concerts and chamber music matinees.

Other guest engagements have taken her to the Detmolder Landestheater, Theater Regensburg and Theater Freiburg.

She has worked with directors such as Immo Kamaran, Wolfgang Nägele, Michiel Dijkema, Elisabeth Stöppler, Lydia Steier, Lorenzo Fioroni, Tillman Knabe, Robert Lehmeier, Anja Kühnhold and Tatjana Gürbaca as well as with conductors such as Herrmann Bäumer, Daniel Montané, Samuel Hogarth, Catherine Rückward, Stephan Zilias, Mino Marani, Dmitri Jurowski, Clemens Heil and Robert Houssart.

Born in Cologne, she was already a junior student at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin at the age of sixteen, where she studied first with Prof. Brenda Mitchell and later with KS Magdalena Hajossiova.

She attended master classes and workshops with Peter Konwitschny, Willi Decker, Prof. V. Katzarov, Nadine Secunde, Lubov Stuchevskaya and Antonello Palombi as well as musical singing with Roberta Cunningham, Neil Semer and Prof. Elisabeth Eaton.

In the current 23/24 season, she made her debut as Ruth in “Die  Pirates von Penzance” at the Staatstheater Mainz and with the mezzo-soprano part in Verdi’s Requiem.
